Planning your trip to the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM)? Here’s what you need to know to ensure a smooth arrival.
All visitors must present a valid passport or travel document issued by their country of citizenship or nationality. Your passport should be valid for at least 120 days beyond your date of entry into the FSM.
Citizens and nationals of the FSM, Republic of Palau, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the United States may also present a passport, birth certificate, or FSM entry permit as proof of citizenship or nationality.
All non-citizens not traveling as visitors must apply for an entry permit before arrival in the FSM. You can download the Entry Permit application here. For specific visa or permit questions, contact the Division of Immigration & Labor using the information below.
All non-citizens arriving without a valid permit must fill out a Customs, Immigration & Quarantine (CIQ) Form, provided during your flight.
Visitors must also show proof of onward travel, such as a return or connecting ticket to a destination outside of the FSM. If you do not have a ticket, alternative proof may be accepted at the discretion of immigration authorities.
Each FSM state (Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae) operates its own customs and immigration stations. If your trip includes multiple islands, you’ll go through basic customs and immigration checks at each stop.
Please note the departure tax at each airport:
