Pohndollap (Sokehs Rock)

A two-hour trek through lush jungle brings you to the summit of Mt. Sokehs, past abandoned WWII sites and giant Japanese cannons with sweeping views over Palikir Pass. For experienced climbers, the sheer face of Sokehs Rock promises untouched basalt walls.

These basalt-walled ruins were once the seat of an ancient empire. Dating back to the 13th century, Lelu’s stone channels, tombs, and royal quarters echo the grandeur of a powerful past, believed to have influenced later Pacific civilizations like Nan Madol.

Pohnpaip Petroglyphs

Etched into a large sloping rock, these ancient carvings depict suns, moons, animals, and human figures. Their creators remain unknown, but their story lives on through these curious symbols.

Nan Madol

Often called the “Venice of the Pacific,” Nan Madol is a mysterious stone city built on 92 artificial islets. Once the capital of the Saudeleur Dynasty, it served as a political and religious center. Massive basalt walls, tombs, and canals remain, their origins still largely unexplained.

A short walk leads to this 30-foot cascade in Utwe. With a small pool for a quick dip and vibrant jungle scenery, it’s a refreshing stop. Please ask nearby landowners for permission before visiting.

Visible from a distance, these twin falls shimmer in the sun as they plunge into the forest. Sahwartik means "shining faintly" and Sahwarlap "shining brightly."

Pahn Takai Cave & Waterfall

After a scenic 30-minute rainforest hike, reach a dramatic 150-foot waterfall and massive overhanging cave, home to a colony of bats. You can walk behind the falls and even access WWII-era cannons nearby. The name means "under the rock"—a fitting description for this hidden gem.
