The Federated States of Micronesia is a treasure trove of natural beauty. Across its islands, you’ll find dense rainforests, ancient stone paths, rare bird species, and untouched ecosystems that stretch from mountaintop to mangrove. Whether you’re hiking to a hidden waterfall or spotting fruit bats in the canopy, nature here is vibrant, wild, and unforgettable.

From cloud forests to banyan tree groves, the FSM offers an incredible variety of hiking terrain—all in remarkably close proximity. With a local guide, you can explore mountain trails, freshwater wetlands, and ancient stone walkways all in a single day. The islands are snake-free and safe to explore, making trekking accessible and family-friendly.
The FSM is home to dozens of rare and endemic bird species, including the Pohnpei lory, Truk monarch, and Kosrae greater white-eye. Chuuk is especially popular among birdwatchers, and each state also hosts colonies of native flying foxes—fruit bats that soar across the forest canopy at dusk. With over 600 species of flowering plants and tropical trees, the islands are bursting with color and life at every turn.
Beyond the forests, the FSM's lowland ecosystems are equally diverse. Explore vast taro swamps, mangrove channels, and sea-grass meadows that support everything from reef herons to native orchids. Many of these lands are protected or privately owned, so we encourage visitors to explore with local guides for both access and insight.
